Dan Pearson's Morris Meadow

The Arts fund has successfully crowd funded Dan Pearson's 'Morris meadow' commissioned for the Arts and Craft House show. Dan has designed a William Morris-inspired garden within a wild-flower meadow.

I'm very excited to have been commissioned a  special edition series 'Chimera collection' decorated bone china bowls as one of the donators rewards. My designs will include a selection of meadow flowers from Dan's plant list and Morris flowers.

Between September and Xmas my studio activities are increasingly involved with aspects of indoor gardening.

Last few days of Folly with a Cercis at the Lambeth Garden museum. The tree goes back into the studio on the 19 June and will be pruned into sections. Branches will be available for purchase from beginning of July.

A CERCIS MICRO WORLD

Green fuse: the work of Dan Pearson is now open and the 'Tree folly with a Cercis' is now live at the Garden Museum. It has once more taken a new incarnation in this new space. In the background - a collection of photographs of Dan Pearson's old Peckham garden by Howard Sooley. Included a picture of the living Cercis in full bloom with red heart shaped leaf.

SCHOOLS TREE FOLLY WORKSHOPS

A week of creative workshops making tree follies with local school groups. Fresh stories and myths have emerged around oak logs and branches collected around Walpole park. These can all be seen under the trees next to Oak folly and heard during the Big lunch event on 2nd July.

SKETCHES WITH A CERCIS

The Cercis has been in the studio for 3 weeks now. Getting to know it , roots and all. I have got used to it lying on it's side like a huge skeleton or small architectural structure. A new landscape is beginning to appear around it along with it's own ecology.

STICKS AND LOGS

Our first day into working on a folly with parts from the felled Oak in Walpole park. This will be their new and last living incarnation as it looks like these pieces are eventually destined for the wood chipping machine. Getting to know each logs from the outside in, the skin, form, density, veins. My assistants - Carlos is on log drilling and Mona on stick painting.

TREE FOLLIES

Uprooting the dead Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' from Dan Pearson's old Peckham garden for my forthcoming series of Tree Follies which will be showing during the Chelsea Fringe festival at the Garden museum in Lambeth and PM gallery in west London.

David and Megumi now the new owners of the house and garden have provided me with new materials for my last show at the Flow gallery 'New Act' - the flotsam and jetsom from winter gardening. The dead Cercis has been the largest and most exciting gift!

THE TREE BARE LAND OF UIST

While on North Uist, working on thoughts for my latest project Tree folly with Cercis for the The Garden Museum in Lambeth. This new work will accompany Dan Person's exhibition at the museum and I'll be using the Cercis from his old garden. No trees here for inspiration but an exotic ground cover of machair and ancient stones alive with mosses and fungi.
