Last few days of Folly with a Cercis at the Lambeth Garden museum. The tree goes back into the studio on the 19 June and will be pruned into sections. Branches will be available for purchase from beginning of July.

A CERCIS MICRO WORLD

Green fuse: the work of Dan Pearson is now open and the 'Tree folly with a Cercis' is now live at the Garden Museum. It has once more taken a new incarnation in this new space. In the background - a collection of photographs of Dan Pearson's old Peckham garden by Howard Sooley. Included a picture of the living Cercis in full bloom with red heart shaped leaf.

SCHOOLS TREE FOLLY WORKSHOPS

A week of creative workshops making tree follies with local school groups. Fresh stories and myths have emerged around oak logs and branches collected around Walpole park. These can all be seen under the trees next to Oak folly and heard during the Big lunch event on 2nd July.

AFTER THE RAIN

Marigolds and Mulenbeckia are thriving. Tracey from the gallery waters regularly and recent  summer rains refresh both the colours of trunks and ceramics as well as plant growth.

FOLLY IN WALPOLE PARK

The last day of setting up Oak Folly in Walpole park. My intended scheme of  French marigolds, lupins and  purple-leaved Ranunculus ficaria 'Brazen Hussy' has been slightly modified. By the end of next week there will be some additions with logs brought to life during schools workshops at the PM gallery.

SPROUTING LOGS

Oak logs are beginning to take on a new life. We have started to seed grass and plant early Marigold shoots but I'm being optimistic that these will show their orange heads by the 16 May when this Folly with Oak will be inaugurated at the same time as the Second Nature show opening at PM and House Gallery!I have planned these along with some high exotic Lupins and modest blue Cornflowers but each log are gaining their own personality and conjure up new ideas for plants as well as some planting constraints.

SKETCHES WITH A CERCIS

The Cercis has been in the studio for 3 weeks now. Getting to know it , roots and all. I have got used to it lying on it's side like a huge skeleton or small architectural structure. A new landscape is beginning to appear around it along with it's own ecology.

STICKS AND LOGS

Our first day into working on a folly with parts from the felled Oak in Walpole park. This will be their new and last living incarnation as it looks like these pieces are eventually destined for the wood chipping machine. Getting to know each logs from the outside in, the skin, form, density, veins. My assistants - Carlos is on log drilling and Mona on stick painting.

TREE FOLLIES

Uprooting the dead Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' from Dan Pearson's old Peckham garden for my forthcoming series of Tree Follies which will be showing during the Chelsea Fringe festival at the Garden museum in Lambeth and PM gallery in west London.

David and Megumi now the new owners of the house and garden have provided me with new materials for my last show at the Flow gallery 'New Act' - the flotsam and jetsom from winter gardening. The dead Cercis has been the largest and most exciting gift!
